Feng Shui

Okay- so you have heard of feng shui and you have seen it on this website but maybe you are still wondering what it is... Feng shui (pronounced 'fung shway') is an environmental medicine. The tradition dates back over 4000 years. Basically, it is the psychology of your home, office or any habited space.

Feng shui is referred to as "the art of placement." By arranging items in your surroundings a certain way, you can invite more peace, harmony and balance into your life. Clutter creates confusion- we already know that, did you know that feng shui directly responds to clutter? Where your eye goes, your energy goes. Thus, if you have 'stuff' everywhere, you will not be able to focus, you may start one thing only to find yourself doing something else just minutes later.

Feng shui isn't necessarily about decorating, though aesthetics are very important. It is a finely tuned craft, areas of your life can be enhanced or minimized by employing feng shui practices. Feng shui doesn't require you to go out and purchase new furniture or paint (though it might not be a bad idea.) More often than not, items need to be removed from a space rather than brought in.

We have all entered a house where we immediately felt at home and just wanted to snuggle up on the couch- and we have all entered spaces where we felt uneasy, tense or downright frightened. Feng shui is definitely at play in both situations, whether you know it or aknowledge it or not!
